Holiday Traditions…the lights
We have two traditions that involve light. The first is that we celebrate the advent with our Christmas Pyramid Carousel. We enjoy one in the kitchen and one in the dining room. It is such fun to light the candles and discuss the reason for the season. My husband is a wee bit swedish so it is a fun tradition.
We are also lucky that we live in a fantastic old neighborhood in Des Moines called Waterbury. Every year they put out over thousands of luminaries on Christmas Eve, it is just lovely. We usually spend Christmas Eve at Andy's parents house and try and get to the Christmas Eve service at church so we usually have to light them before we head out for the evening and I just love it when we come home later that night and drive through the neighborhood to see all of the gorgeous lights. Usually Charlotte is fast asleep and Andy and I drive while enjoying O Holy Night as we wind through the street. Then we quickly get the girls to bed, pop the Champagne and put out Christmas presents and this year there is no exception…I'll try and snap a photo this year, usually we are so busy enjoying the luminaries that we forget to take pictures.
What do you do on Christmas Eve?
